THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SULFORAPHANE GLUCOSINOLATE AND FREE SULFORAPHANE
Sulforaphane is the compound in broccoli responsible for many of its health benefits. However, only a few products available worldwide contain true, free, and stabilized Sulforaphane that is typically studied by scientists. Nearly all other dietary supplements contain Sulforaphane's precursor, called Sulforaphane Glucosinolate (or Glucoraphanin).

For Sulforaphane Glucosinolate to be absorbed, the human body first needs to convert Sulforaphane Glucosinolate into free Sulforaphane. This conversion requires a specific enzyme called Myrosinase. Myrosinase, typically provided by nature in broccoli alongside Sulforaphane Glucosinolate, is mostly degraded by food processing (including boiling). As a result, very little Sulforaphane will ultimately reach the bloodstream.

According to clinical trials, without the Myrosinase enzyme, only 10% of Sulforaphane Glucosinolate is converted into free Sulforaphane and absorbed. The rest is excreted. This small conversion is facilitated by gut bacteria, and therefore, it varies from person to person.

When Sulforaphane Glucosinolate is delivered at the same time as the Myrosinase enzyme, a higher conversion of Sulforaphane Glucosinolate is achieved. Clinical trials estimate that conversion to about 40%, again with variations from person to person.

The oil for our C60 in olive oil comes from organically grown Koroneiki olives from the Chania region of northern Crete. The area is globally recognised for the production of high quality olives and as a result was awarded EU Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status. This extra virgin olive oil comes from the first pressing, within hours of harvesting. It is a cold pressed oil as neither heat nor chemicals are used. The whole process acts to preserve the flavour and high levels of natural antioxidants in the oil.
