Beta-Carotene 25000IU (100)

Beta-Carotene
25,000 IU 100 softgels Item Catalog Number: 00664
Vitamin A (retinol) is a yellow, fat-soluble, generic term for a large number of related compounds obtained from some carotenoids by conversion in the liver, its storage organ. Retinol (an alcohol) and retinal (an aldehyde) are often referred to as preformed vitamin A. While carotenoids are widely distributed in such foods as green and yellow vegetables, retinol is not found in any vegetable sources, but is concentrated in egg yolks and the livers of many animals. Vitamin A, either from animal sources or synthesized in our own liver, is essential for growth and reproduction, maintaining healthy vision, and supporting protein synthesis and cell differentiation.

Vitamin A and its analogs have shown the ability to help maintain proper DNA function.1-3 One study, however, has shown that for certain lifestyles (e.g., smokers) supplemental intake of too much beta-carotene in the absence of other carotenoids and antioxidants (such as at least 400 IU/day of vitamin E) may be harmful.4

Beta-carotene is the most potent precursor to vitamin A, but its conversion to vitamin A in the body is limited by a feedback system. It is an important antioxidant in its own right and one that can only build up to toxic levels in rare circumstances. Beta-carotene helps support immune health by enhancing the function of the thymus gland.5,6

Life Extension Buffered vitamin C (454g)

Buffered Vitamin C Powder 454 gram

Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, is a white, crystalline, water-soluble substance found in citrus fruits. As an antioxidant, vitamin C scavenges free radicals in the body and protects tissues from oxidative stress.1-8 Vitamin C also promotes the absorption of iron, while preventing its oxidation.9,10 Vitamin C is a vital cofactor to the formation of collagen, the connective tissue that supports arterial walls, skin, bones, and teeth.4-6 A major immune-supporting activity of vitamin C is boosting glutathione levels in human lymphocytes,38 cells that make up about 25% of all white cells in the blood.

More vitamin C is contained in the adrenal glands than any other organ in the body and is required at higher levels during times of stress.11-14 Physical stresses on the body such as ingestion of heavy metals,15-20 cigarette smoking,21-24 immune impairment,25-31 extreme temperatures,31-36 and chronic use of certain medications such as aspirin also signal the need for increased intake of vitamin C.37

Vitamin C Powder contains four buffering minerals, in addition to ascorbic acid. When mixed with water, this product produces a reduced-acid solution that is non-irritating to the stomach and intestinal lining. The minerals also make it a more pleasant-tasting and healthful drink. The substances used in this product make it effervesce for a short while when it is mixed with water.

Food Supplement 454 g
Serving Size: 1 rounded teaspoon (approximately 5 g)
Amount per Serving
Vitamin C (as ascorbic acid) 4000 mg
Calcium (as calcium carbonate) 145 mg
Magnesium (as magnesium carbonate) 55 mg
Zinc (as zinc gluconate) 2 mg
Potassium (as potassium carbonate) 365 mg

RI = EU Reference Intake, * no RI available.

Ingredients: Ascorbic acid, calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, zinc gluconate, potassium carbonate.

Dosage and use
Mix one (1) teaspoon of Buffered Vitamin C Powder into a glass of water. Wait for the fizz to stop before consuming. The minerals buffer out normally acidic vitamin C to make a pleasant tasting drink. To ensure product consistency store tightly closed in a cool, dry place.

Caution
This product may cause diarrhoea, if taken in high doses, especially on an empty stomach. For optimal benefits, begin with low doses during meals and gradually increase it.

Two-Per-Day Capsules
Highest Potency Multivitamin On The Mark

Life Extension’s Two Per Day multivitamins have the highest nutritional potencies of any science-based multivitamin formula that can fit inside two capsules or Capsules. This gives you far more of the essential vitamins, minerals and health-promoting nutrients than typical store-bought formulas … and it does so at a very economical price. Why is this so important? While Recommended Daily Allowances (RDAs) were developed by the government, they only provide the minimal doses to protect you from deficiency. Research studies demonstrate that unless you’re taking the ideal dose of vitamins and minerals, you won’t fully receive their benefits for optimal health and well-being. Two-Per-Day now contains three potent forms of selenium (SelenoExcell®, Se-methyl-selenocysteine, and sodium selenite). Also newly included is apigenin, a powerful bioflavonoid found in many vegetables and fruits which boosts cell protection.

Vitamin B12 500mcg (100)

€ 14,-

Vitamin B12 500 mcg, 100 lozenges

Item Catalog Number: 00361
Vitamin B12 is present in foods of animal origin, including dairy products and eggs. Thus, vegetarians are more susceptible to a dietary deficiency of this important nutrient.232 Likewise, vitamin B12 serum concentrations are reported to be significantly lower in elderly population groups compared to younger groups.233-236 It is estimated that 10% to 30% of individuals over the age of 50 have low stomach acid secretion237,238 which results in decreased bioavailability of vitamin B12 from food. To overcome food-bound vitamin B12 malabsorption problems, the Institute of Medicine recommends that vitamin B12-fortified foods (such as fortified ready-to-eat breakfast cereals) or supplements containing vitamin B12 be used to meet much of the requirement.239 Vitamin B12, or cobalamin, works synergistically with vitamin B6 and folate to regenerate (methylate) the amino acid methionine, which helps to maintain already healthy homocysteine levels within normal range, which is important for heart health.240-243

Cyanocobalamin is a synthetic and inexpensive form of vitamin B12 that is converted in the body to its bioactive forms, methylcobalamin and cobamamide.
